Mileek McMillan Full Bio
Mileek McMillan, the "Director of Basketball Operations" for Kzoo LEADERs since June 28th,
2023, has been actively involved in facilitating and organizing youth basketball clinics in
Kalamazoo since May 2023. Born and raised in Merrillville, Indiana, Mileek was an all-state
basketball player at Merrillville High School in 2017. Mileek has played NCAA Division 1
Basketball at Valparaiso University and Western Michigan University. Throughout his college
playing career, he served as a team captain for three seasons and was recognized as the Missouri
Valley Conference's "Most Improved Player" during the 2019-2020 season at Valparaiso
University. He holds an undergraduate degree in Sports Management with a minor in Business
from Valparaiso University, as well as a Master's degree in Sports Management from Western
Michigan University.
During the current academic semester, Mileek has been working as a Community Service
Coordinator for the Western Michigan University (WMU) Athletic Administration Department.
In this role, he collaborates with executives at Western Michigan to organize community service
outreach events, partnering with non-profit organizations, Kalamazoo Public Schools (KPS),
Senior Living Homes, and Children's Hospitals. Mileek's responsibilities include marketing,
management, and promotion of social media accounts.
Apart from his basketball career, Mileek is actively involved in the community as a professional
basketball player and serves as a role model for the youth of Kalamazoo. He has established a
safe space where young individuals can receive speed and agility training, develop basketball
skills, and have the opportunity to interact with successful role models. Additionally, the clinic
provides snacks and drinks to ensure proper nutrition. Mileek's primary goal is to impart life
skills to the youth through the game of basketball, emphasizing the values of discipline,
commitment, hard work, and resilience as crucial qualities for success. He firmly believes that
basketball can lay a solid foundation of life skills for young individuals, just as it did for him.
